DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position is headquartered at the Rothrock State Forest District Office and work assignments will occur throughout the Rothrock Forest District. It is primarily an educational learning experience and operational support / assistance position in natural resource management with the focus on State Forest Management of the state forest and Rothrock Forest District.
Primary target duty for this field season will be to assist with the improvement of the recreation program. This will include correction of trail layer data in the GIS system. You will conduct physical assessments of trails and providing documentation of the assessment through data collection software, as well as collect and verify trail and parking lot counter data.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship lasting from 5/01/2024 through 8/30/2024.Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:Ecosystem Management - Forestry, Forest TechnologyRecreationEnvironmental ScienceAn approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.Freshman year completedGood academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
