  Did you know that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in Pennsylvania takes care of a staggering 2 million acres of forest land spread across 48 counties? Their dedicated team of environmental professionals works tirelessly to safeguard these lands from wildfires, destructive insects, and invasive ecological diseases. Additionally, they also focus on preserving native plants and ensuring sustainable timber harvesting.

  DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an intern, you will be working closely with foresters and forest technicians to conduct trail assessments and mapping for trail projects and road/stream crossings. You will also be responsible for surveying campsite boundaries and developing geographical information systems (GIS) layers for lease inspection tracking and reporting. Your duties will include recreational area surveying, timber management, cooperative forest management, and forest fire prevention.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time internship that will last from 5/1/2024 through 8/30/2024.Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable Majors:ForestryEnvironmental ScienceGeographical Information Systems (GIS)Freshman year completed.Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
