  Would you like to join our team of dedicated professionals? We have an immediate opening for a talented, hardworking individual to join our Foothills Team as a Distribution Design Supervisor!

  What would you do?

  Complete the annual System Improvement Work Plan and DOT projects while managing terms of large construction contracts, managing UG Locate process with contractor and 811 Center; maintaining accurate records to track and support DOT reimbursement and monthly contractor invoice payments.

  Coordinate all activities involving foreign crews during storm events.

  Maintain best practices for performance reporting.

  Be accountable for leading and supervising the Distribution Design group.

  Coordinate and lead major business projects like contract labor for OH and UG construction, emergency restoration plans, UG locate contractor and streetlight or security light standards.

  Direct cooperative activities for major OH and UG labor contracts.

  Manage the design and construction of the Construction Work Plan related to system improvements, conductor replacement, transmission line maintenance, etc. to meet the specifications of system standards, RUS requirements, engineering standards, and the National Electric Safety Code.

  Prepare contracts for OH & UG construction work and pole inspections & oversee associated resources

  Be responsible for completion of the Transmission Maintenance Program following the patrol and inspection process.

  Provide direction, coaching, supervision, and mentoring to a team of professional and technical staff.

  Complete work on time and under budget to meet financial, reliability and member satisfaction goals.

  Enforce Cooperative safety rules, policies and take corrective action when necessary.

  Assist the Distribution Design Manager in planning and implementation of departmental objectives.

  Coordinate meetings with managers and other departments to manage workload.

  Assist in training classes for Distribution Designers.

  Manage the workload of Distribution Designers using our software to meet goals & project milestones.

  Coordinate activities to complete assigned tasks and support tasks of other departments.

  Provides safe working conditions for employees.

  Ensure materials are ordered and available to complete projects.

  Provide efficient and quality design services to all regions and member-customers within business policies and procedures.

  Oversee employees’ performance, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

  Review jobs for accuracy to ensure consistent work practices across regions and to ensure job as-built revisions are completed in a timely manner.

  Manage departmental expenses to remain within budget.

  Coordinate and cooperate with other personnel in performing assigned responsibilities.

  Skills & Requirements

  What do you need to have?

  High school graduate or equivalent.

  Six years of Distribution and/or Transmission Construction experience

  Familiar with National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, RUS distribution design, construction and maintenance practices, both overhead/underground distribution and transmission.

  Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, tablets and technology.

  Must be able to retain information of a confidential nature.

  Ability to implement work plans, make sound decisions from observations and carry out instructions.

  Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, as well as work in harmony with different personality types.

  Ability to work with minimal supervision and be proactive in responsibilities.

  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  What would be nice to have?

  An Associates degree from an accredited institution in a field closely related to either electricity, civil or electrical engineering technology preferred.

  Experience in line crew supervision preferred.

  More about this position:

  Due to the nature of our business, you must be available for work during adverse weather conditions.

  This position is categorized as Hybrid, which is a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work and duties associated with this position at both an EnergyUnited Office location and their home.

  This position is a Direct Operational Position. All employees assigned to an operational position must reside or be willing to relocate in a location that is no more than a twenty (20) mile radius from either our Statesville or Taylorsville locations.

  This position is exempt as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act as amended.
