About Food Service Specialist/Cook

　　GENERAL SUMMARY

　　The purpose of this job is to provide nutritional and balanced meals to the inmates of the Kalamazoo County jail, working with up to 10 inmate workers. Strictly adhere to special diets such as food allergies or medical conditions requiring low sodium or no sugar.

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

　　Prepare meals following the dietary content guidelines of the facility menu and recommend essential adaptations when necessary.Prepare meals for the inmates and correctional staff.Perform and record clean-up and maintenance of the kitchen equipment.Assist in unloading the food delivery truck.Report equipment malfunctions and supply needs to kitchen administrative staff.Direct and monitor the activities of the inmate workers assigned to the kitchen.Perform related work as required.
