The Salvation Army in Glendale, AZ is looking to fill a Food Pantry Worker/Janitor position. The Successful candidate for this position will have the ability to communicate effectively to clients and volunteers, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently. . This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, free membership and more.
The Food Pantry Worker/Janitor will keep the food pantry clean and neat, rotating stock on a regular basis. This person will assist with putting together food boxes, catalog all items received including donations, deliveries from food banks, and other organizations. This employee will greet food clients at the food pantry window, verify their paperwork and serve them accordingly. This person will assist with unloading deliveries, completing weekly statistical reports and help with pick up of donated goods as needed. Janitorial duties include stocking and cleaning restrooms daily, trash emptied daily, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, and assisting with setup for assigned programs including the chapel for Sunday services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
1 year experience in social service environment preferred
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Ability to pass The Salvation Army Driver’s e-learning Certification
Ability to communicate effectively to clients and volunteers
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude when working with clients
Must be able to work independently and show initiative
Required to successfully pass a criminal background check
Must have or obtain food handlers certificate within 30 days of employment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
