POSITION: Food Pantry Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Corps officer
STATUS: Non-Exempt / Hourly

BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to keep the Stockton Corps offices and property clean and orderly. Daily food donation pickups. Maintain a good working relationship with public and private social services agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work within the office team environment to achieve the overall local goals of The Salvation Army.
Daily-Serve clients daily to meet their needs within our ability.
Interview clients applying for emergency assistance to be determine eligibility. If we are not able to help with the service requested, provide referral information of forms for other non-profits.
Must answer the phone as much as possible, with respect to the clients/ donor, always representing the organization and our mission well.
Report any driving, safety hazards and the need for repairs to supervisor.
Help with reach programs as needed.
Maintain a good working relationship with public and private social service agencies.
Help in developing new funding or donor sources for our clients.
Pantry-
Must be available to assist in any way with the moving, unloading, and storage of all donated food items from the truck runs or people’s generosity.
Organize, clean and maintain pantry shelves staffed and in a neat manner, always securing that safety policy is followed.

Moving furniture, supplies and equipment as required.
prep the food for distribution to clients. distribute the food to the clients according to our schedule set by the Commanding Officer’s.
Other responsibilities-
Supervisor to work-net employees. (accountability) providing a schedule and teaching them the normal routine.
Helping the Officer with community outreach.
Volunteer Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be a least 21 years of age.
Must have ability to work with people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Must Hold a current Driver License.
Ability to participate in appropriate training in hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal; follow designated policy and procedures for Haz-mat identification, storage and disposal; maintain standards related to environmental compliance and personal health and safety as required.
Ability to speak and write the English language.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to drive, sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes.Ability to regularly lift up and/or move up to 25 lbs.
This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain at a desk for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruption. Ability to operate a keyboard is essential. Ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required. The employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Regular travel is required.
