The Environmental Service Technician/ Floor Technician maintains appearance of all flooring surfaces throughout the facility in accordance with AHE standard procedures of the Environmental Services (Housekeeping) Department and Hospital objectives. Assigned areas may include exam rooms, corridors, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, public restrooms, etc.
Responsibilities
Performs sweeping, mopping, stripping, and refinishing of hardwood surfaces following standard operating procedure.
Assesses floor conditions and determines how to bring up to standards (strip/refinish; top scrub/refinish; or mop/refinish).
Vacuums and scrubs carpeted surfaces following standard operating procedure.
Moves furniture and other objects as needed to complete floor care and returns all moved items to their original place upon completion.
Monitors supply and requests additional cleaning solutions as needed.
Ensures all floor machines are kept clean and in proper working condition.
Handles various types of cleaning materials in compliance with established guidelines and utilizing appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE).
Cleans and disinfects examination tables, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, clinics, labs, veterinary facilities, radiology, MRI, therapy areas within the hospital environment to establish standards as needed.
Obtains all necessary cleaning solutions and supplies from the supply closet to perform daily cleaning duties.
Returns all supplies upon completion of assigned tasks.

Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum one (1) year of experience as a floor technician
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to pass a National Agency Check (NACI) for computer access.
Previous custodial experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
Working knowledge of all types of flooring surfaces, appropriate care, and proper use of chemicals and equipment.
Ability to deal with frequent interruptions.
Follow directions and instructions.
Identify safety and hazards and act accordingly.
Carry out proper cleaning procedures on a daily basis.
