Responsible for analysis of the quarterly and annual financial reports prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as, the Medical Center statement consolidation with the University of Virginia and various monthly operating reports. In addition, the analyst will assist as a key resource on technical accounting issues and analysis.
This position is a hybrid position (at least one day a week in office; to be coordinated with supervisor).
Analysis of daily transactions and reconciliation of multiple systems technology, including: EPIC, Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft and Anaplan to include Cash, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Accounts Payable
Propose appropriate decisions, recommendations, and interpretations, primarily related to existing and new accounting standards.
Research and propose application of accounting guidance to ensure aligned business processes and policies are maintained and documented
Extensive data retrieval, manipulation, import and interpretation from multiple systems technology, including: EPIC, Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft, and Anaplan, requiring a robust knowledge of file conversion technology into an understandable format
Assist the Manager of Financial Reporting on multiple projects, to include establishment of year-end planning calendar, analyzing account balances, providing testing samples and documentation to external auditors, and preparing the UVA Health consolidated footnotes
Apply knowledge of the technical aspects of reporting and analytic tools, primarily PeopleSoft as well as excel and other like software applications, to query and analyze financial transactions and data
Utilize PeopleSoft, Anaplan, and other financial and information technology tools adopted by UVA Health for the preparation of all financial reports
Independently prepares financial reports using advanced systems technology including PeopleSoft NVision and Anaplan.
Prepare and maintain internal accounting policies to ensure effective and practical implementation
Maintain an active continuing education program including education and training related to new GASB standards

Position Compensation Range: $59,072.00 - $94,515.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Accounting, Healthcare, Finance or related field preferred. Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: 2 -5 years relevant experience required. Prefer financial reporting, GASB, and/or academic medical center experience.
Licensure: None required, CPA preferred
Other Skills:
Thorough, complete understanding and application of standard accounting concepts and principles to include journal entry processing, understanding, and impact.
Ability to translate financial reporting needs according to GAAP and GASB standard reporting requirements into written positions.
Experience working in large, decentralized work environments and structures.
Concise communication skills, in order to articulate and advise multiple areas of the Medical Center as related to transaction processing, journal entry, and reports.
Ability to work with reliability, accuracy, and productivity to meet critical deadlines.
Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
Proficient knowledge, skill, and experience using Excel, Access, Word, in order to maximize efficiency in processing tremendous lines of data daily so as to be able to load into PeopleSoft.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
