Position Summary
Provides the training needs of the Marion Superior Court, Juvenile Division by conducting orientation programs, training programs, on-going and in-service training for staff consistent with the philosophies, goals, and objectives of the Marion Superior Court, Juvenile Division. Assists Detention Administration with other functions, including conducting tours, interviewing applicants, implementing the Strategic Plan, and other projects and programs.
Position Responsibilities
Orientation: coordinates and conducts orientation programs with all new staff members.
Training: assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of training programs for skill development and supplemental training as needed with Juvenile Detention Center.
Provides training across all three shifts for staff members who are experiencing deficiencies or who are struggling with performance.
Evaluates employees through testing and observation during the training period or curriculum. Assist with in-service training for all staff. Document training for all staff, including tracking training competencies for auditing purposes. Develop and update training materials and programs as needed.
Communicate with appropriate supervisory staff regarding training and compliance issues.
Assists with coordinating external training and certifications for ongoing training compliance.
Communicate updates regarding training mandates and guidelines.
All other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Two to three years experience within a Juvenile Detention facility will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Ability to develop, plan, and facilitate training curriculum through a thorough understanding of the policies and procedures of the Court. Must possess the ability to communicate well as a leader in both the classroom and detention settings, The ability to work with outside agencies and representatives is essential, Ability to evaluate the performance of others in a consistent and impartial manner, Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, Ability to remain objective and unbiased, Must have a strong working knowledge of JDC Policies and Procedures, The ability to interact with diverse groups of people is imperative, Must have strong computer skills; prefer Microsoft Office products.
Marion County residency is required within six months of hire date.
Salary listed is base with no experience. Starting salary will be higher with applicable experience. Salary enhancements are available for bi-lingual skills and either an Associate's or Bachelor's degree (a copy of certified college transcripts will be required for the enhancement).
The hours for this position are 11a -7:30p, Monday through Friday. A shift differential of $2.50/hour is applicable to this position.
