This is a safety sensitiveposition subject to the rules of the RTD/FRA Drug and Alcohol Policy.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work,training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application ofEmployee guidelines, processes, and procedures.Assists with the training for commuter rail transportation personnel andcoordinating, developing, revising and administering qualifications,certifications, and re-certification testing of current and potentialemployees in accordance with FRA regulation and policies and procedures.Assists with operator assignments for the Run Board system, annualvacation, the recording of Daily Adjustment Sheets and inputs informationinto the appropriate software program.Investigates accidents, incidents, disputes and disturbances and completesappropriate reports and necessary documentation. Assesses ability of operatorsto continue in service when investigating accidents, incidents and potentialsubstance abuse problems.Interfaces with community groups, contractors and other area transit andmunicipal agencies.Trouble shoots rail vehicle problems and operates rail vehicles as required.Conducts time point and passenger load checks to ensure schedule and routeefficiency and performs operator efficiency testing as required.All job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:A high school diploma or equivalent, an Associates Degree in Applied Sciencepreferred.A minimum of one year as a full-time train operator, preferably in an FRAregulated railroad.Availability to work unusual hours, weekends and holidays.Must have and maintain current CDL or the ability to obtain in 90 days.Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Commuter Rail VehicleOperator and Conductor.FRA Designated Supervisor of Locomotive Engineers (DSLE) status preferredor ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.Proficiency in Commuter Rail operations and procedures.Or:An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills,abilities.Internal Candidates are expected to have acceptable performance within thepast 24 months.Working Environment and Physical Requirements:The work environment and physical demands described here are representative ofthose required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this jobwith or without reasonable accommodations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposedto outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to movingmechanical parts and vibration.
