Primary Objective of Position:
Electric Machinery, WEG is looking for a Field Service Engineer to provide industry-leading field service for large industrial motors and generators to our customers worldwide. In this role, you will be required to provide technical support including: installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and training. The successful candidate will work both at our WEG/EM factory in Minneapolis, and at customer sites in the US and internationally. The position will require up to 100% travel, and up to 50% may be international.
Responsibilities Include:
The candidate will be required to use a variety of electrical test equipment, hand/power/ measuring tools, will often be required to lead, schedule and supervise a team of technicians.
The candidate will show a high level of enthusiasm and energy to resolve service requests effectively, and promote strong customer relationships.
The candidate will report to the job site on-time, fit for duty, and will be responsible for daily updates, field service reports, time cards, and expense reports on a timely basis.
When required, the field service technician will propose repair options, offer additional products, and other WEG/EM personnel.
The candidate will be required to develop written documentation for services provided and provide troubleshooting over the phone after-hours as-required.
The candidate will be required to generate and update policies, procedures, and work instructions applicable to large industrial motors and generators their repair, maintenance, service and manufacture.
The candidate will assist in training of new team members, customers, and service partners as needed
The candidate will; strive to understand the customers- needs, suggest and sell goods and services to meet those needs in order to maintain equipment availability/optimization and customer satisfaction and company profitability.
The candidate will deliver and explain quotes to the customer, ask for and close the sale.
The candidate will maintain a commitment to total safety and will be required to apply for a TWIC card, OSHA 40-hour, and other training modules.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and proven ability to effectively deal with customers.
Demonstrated ability to organize multiple tasks and activities while maintaining strong documentation.
Operational knowledge of motors and generators, power generation systems, petro-chemical operations systems, paper, and other general industry systems.
Computer literate with knowledge of current operating systems and software common to business applications including; SAP, Outlook, Word for Windows, Excel, PowerPoint.
B.S. degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering and/or minimum of 5+ years- experience in the Field Service area of rotating equipment.
Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities.
This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery and in-process apparatus in a safe manner.
Physical ability to climb a ladder, use scaffolding or catwalks to service machinery.
Ability and willingness to wear fall protection equipment.
Physical ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.
Physical ability to travel via public, commercial or personal transportation.
Must possess an insurable driver-s license.
Must possess a valid Passport.
