Position Summary

　　The Field Inspector's focus would be to help ensure the integrity of the extensive Horizon fiber optic network by performing various preventive maintenance ride-outs, inspections, and locates.

　　The incumbent must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with contractors and management and have a basic understanding of the construction of Horizon's fiber optic networks.

　　Essential Job Functions

　　Locate underground cables (including wooded easements, etc.) using current locating methods.

　　Identify, report, and document potential problems in aerial fiber.

　　Perform regular inspections of fiber optic network to ensure network integrity is maintained by Network Partners both through preventive and reactionary methods.

　　Qualifications

　　1-2 years in the telecommunications industry working as a junior outside plant engineer or a fiber locator.

　　GED or High School diploma.

　　Valid non-suspended Ohio driver's license.

　　Basic computer skills.

　　Physical Requirements

　　Medium work: Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
