The Field Construction Superintendent is responsible for providing project control and direction, as well as monitoring and coordinating quality control through the customer’s three-phase process (similar to the Army Corp Three Phased Quality Control Process), in the execution of field construction activities. This position will be required to meet with contractor and government stakeholders providing accurate and up-to-date progress reporting, updated schedule reporting with two-three week look ahead. The Construction Superintendent will be required to oversee material and equipment purchases, storage and installation ensuring all process related to construction execution are followed with the ability to provide solutions to impacts/ interruptions to the schedule and/or compliance with local, state and federal codes. The Construction Superintendent will work with all stakeholders to ensure the schedule milestones are met while remaining within the budget constraints delivering the highest quality product in accordance with Federal Government guidelines.
Responsibilities
Will be required to be onsite daily and when required coordinated construction activities are required for after-hours outages/activities.
Supervise field construction activities
Develop and coordinate construction methodology and sequencing as related to project execution.
Provide project-level reporting to internal project management and external customers.
Develop and adhere to budgeting requirements.
Coordinate material lead times and deliveries for proper delivery sequencing.
Update construction schedule daily to document work progress, as well as work delays
Report, administer and execute corrective actions necessary to ensure the project is on schedule. Address onsite personnel and subcontractors to meet expectations through strong verbal and written communication skills.
Record work site activity to include crew size, persons of responsibility, and all visitors to the work site.
Initiate, manage, monitor and report on the request for information (RFI) process to ensure information is addressed accurately and completely.
Initiate, manage, monitor and report on the submittal process to ensure the materials and equipment used for construction execution are approved by the Government and installed as defined by the project specifications, drawings, contract documents, regulations and codes.
Maintain RFI logs.
Maintain Submittal logs.
Maintain daily reports.
Maintain Sign in/out logs for all parties entering and leaving the construction site.
Create and communicate job hazard analysis’ daily to maintain a focus for all personnel on the construction site to be aware of hazards and the safety requirements.
Oversee site safety and ensure adherence by all stakeholders.
Communicate with and update government and military personnel during field visits.
Gather statistical data and specifications to determine present standards.
Audit, analyze, and provide evaluation of performance to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, stipulations, and standards.
Deploy, monitor and control the Quality Control processes in accordance with Army Corp Quality Control guidelines using the three-phase approach.
Audit sitespecific quality control documentation and records
Ensure adherence to the Field Safety Program
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum five (5) years’ experience on construction projects to include supervisory experience.
30hr Safety Certification (current)
Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Manager (CQM) Certification
40 Hr. EM 385 1-1 Certification preferred
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience on Federal construction projects
Proficient in the use of basic office programs (word, excel, outlook, etc.)
Basic skill in the use of AutoCADD is preferred
Basic skill in the use of Microsoft Project is preferred
Knowledge of general construction methods and practices
Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site
Possess intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
Possess skills in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
Ability to give direction and lead assigned tasks
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical drawings/procedures and government regulations/specifications
Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and customers
Ability to define problems and collect data, establish facts and develop solutions accordingly
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
