Specific Job Requirements: APPLES Harvest: The Worker will hand harvestapples this can be performed from a motorized platform and/or from theground or a ladder. The Worker will attach harness, bucket or bag andpicks low hanging fruit while standing on the ground and higher brancheswhile standing on a ladder. The Worker will pick according to grade,color and size by grasping fruit with the hands and removing from thetree in a motion so as not to harm adjacent buds on the tree branches.The Worker will carry harness, bucket or bag of up to 60 lbs. and willplace fruit into wooden bins, 4x4x3 which hold approximately 25 bushelsof fruit. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent bruising offruit or breaking of branches. The Worker may be required to examineharvested fruit in bins and sort out any fruit not meeting the grade,color and size specifications. The Worker must possess the ability topick-up; handle a 10 ft. or 12 ft. orchard and vineyard ladder weighingup to 40 pounds. GRAPE Harvest: Workers will hand and/or machine harvestwine grapes. Worker will harvest numerous varieties of grapes accordingto established company procedures accounting for difference in thetreatment of different varieties. When asked by the supervisor workerwill operate the grape harvesting machine. The fruit will be placed oneither a plastic tub or stainless-steel bin. Care must be exercised atall time to prevent breaking of vineyards and to maximize the quality ofthe fruit. Some workers may be required to examine harvested fruit inbins, thinning and sort out any fruit not meeting the grade, color andsize specifications. THINNING: Thinning is a manual process used tocontrol the size and quality of grown fruit. The Worker must possess theability to pick up, handle a 10 ft. or 12 ft. orchard and vineyardladder weighing 40 pounds. Furthermore, the Worker must be able to usescissor like clippers. This process requires the Worker to remove, insome cases not limited to the smallest fruit blossom, bud and/oridentifiable fruit from within a cluster of other fruits. The Workerwill be expected to be able to identify and remove fruit that ismisshapen, damaged and/or with other quality problems as directed bysupervisors. Thinning may be performed from a motorized platform and/orfrom the ground or a ladder. TRAINING: Training is a process in whichthe fruit tree is manipulated to increase yield and/or quality. TheWorker must possess ability to pick up, handle a 10 ft. or 12 ft.orchard and vineyard ladder weighing 40 pounds. Training may beperformed from a motorized platform and/or from the ground or ladder.Tying up or down apple limbs. Training and limb positioning of appletrees. Shoot thinning, sucker removal, cluster thinning, shootpositioning, hedging, or leaf removal. Propping and supporting appletrees. PRUNING: Pruning numerous varieties of crops according toestablished company procedures based on the difference in the Treatmentof different varieties. Work will be performed on trees for long periodsof time using a variety of pruning equipment including but not limitedto hand shears, hand loppers, hand saws. Furthermore, the worker mustpossess ability to pick up, handle a 10 ft. or 12 ft. orchard andvineyard ladder weighing 40 pounds. Pruning may be done from the groundor a ladder up to 12 feet in height or from a motorized platform. TheWorker may be required to selectively prune only trees of a certain sizeand color as instructed by the crew supervisor. The Worker is expectedto possess or acquire pruning skills in order to identify and removest bs or broken branches, Downward-growing branches, branches which rubagainst each other, shaded interior branches, dead wood andshoots/suckers with hand pruning saws and clippers, mechanized equipmentin pruning activities. THIS IS A DESCRIPTION FOR Apples, Grapes,Alfalfa, Timothy Hay, Beans, Peas, Corn, and wheat. 1.The Worker willcare for young non-producing fruit trees including but not limited toweeding, hoeing, trunk painting, hand fertilizing and growth selectionby hand and clipping. 2.Hand thinning of apple trees to ensure properfruit load on the tree. 3.Pruning of apple trees. 4.Training of appletrees to a trellis, including clipping and tying limbs and shoots to thewire. 5.Training and limb positioning of all crops if apply. 6.Providegeneral labor to assist in the establishment of the new orchard andvineyard properties by clearing property, planting trees, buildingtrellis, repair and spreading of composted material and any other laborconsidered necessary for the efficient structure of new orchard andvineyard properties. 7.Care for trees during the growing process-recognize tree disease such as of blighted branches in all crops ifapply. 8.Harvest preparation including spreading liners in bins, rollingbins into blocks by hand. 9.Propping and tying of all crops if apply andlimbs. 10.Pruning and thinning may be done from the ground or ladder upto 12 feet in height, or from a motorized platform14.Handle fruitcarefully and not bruise or damage fruit when it is placed in the bin.15.Observation of bruis
