They can one one or any combination of thefollowing tasks: Harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them;Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machineryto plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray andharvest crops; Set up and operate irrigation equipment; Harvest fruitsand vegetables by hand; Clean work areas, and maintain grounds andlandscaping; Sell and deliver plants and flowers to customers; Identifyplants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application offertilizers; Regulate greenhouse conditions, and indoor and outdoorirrigation systems; Cut, roll, and stack sod; Feel plants\' leaves andnote their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease;Provide information and advice to the public regarding the selection,purchase, and care of products; Maintain and repair irrigation andclimate control systems; Dig, cut, and transplant seedlings, cuttings,trees, and shrubs; Maintain inventory, ordering materials as required;Record information about plants and plant growth; Dig, rake, and screensoil, filling cold frames and hot beds in preparation for planting;Inspect plants and bud ties to assess quality; Move containerizedshrubs, plants, and trees, using wheelbarrows or tractors; Tie and bunchflowers, plants, shrubs, and trees, wrap their roots, and pack them intoboxes to fill orders; Load agricultural products into trucks, and drivetrucks to market or storage facilities; Haul and spread topsoil,fertilizer, peat moss, and other materials to condition soil, usingwheelbarrows or carts and shovels; and Plant, spray, weed, fertilize,water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools. Inthe first months of the job, workers will be working at two differentlocations--the main worksite location and a second location located 40minutes away but in Wisconsin. At the Wisconsin location, workers willbe stripping plants, trees, and shrubs down to roots and bulbs andgetting them ready to transport to a the main Illinois location. At theIllinois location, they will be preparing the location to receive thenew plants, shrubs, and tree. Once transferred, the new greens will bereplanted and cared for at the Illinois location. Near the end of thework period, workers will prepare the plants, trees, and shrubs for thedormant, winter season.Some OT and weekends may be required. Must beable to lift 70 lbs. consistently on a daily basis. Hours may vary basedon weather. Employer will provide daily transportation, free of charge,from the Illinois worksite and housing location, to the Wisconsinlocation (which is about a 40 minute drive away) on the days that theygo there to work and they will be returned to the Illinoishousing/worksite location at the end of the day. Workers will be paid aWisconsin hourly rate on those days, but are not required to live in adifferent location to perform the duties of the position. May alsoinstall plaints, trees, and shrubs at various unanticipated worksiteswithin normal commute distance. Employer will provide all transportationfree of charge.
