Position Summary
The College of Business at Metropolitan State University of Denver is hiringan Experiential Learning Specialist, supported by President JanineDavidson's commitment to providing opportunities for all students at theUniversity to engage in Experiential Learning.
The College of Business, in service to our mission of engaging a diversestudent population with an inclusive educational experience to becomesuccessful business professionals, seeks to increase student learning andretention through purposeful and planned experiential learning opportunities.This position will work directly and collaboratively with staff and facultywithin the College of Business to ensure all students are provided theopportunity to engage with Denver metropolitan area businesses or non-profitsthrough experiential learning. This position will also work collaborativelywith staff from the university's Classroom to Career Hub (C2Hub).
The Experiential Learning Specialist will enable the College of Business toprovide data and track movement toward the University's goal to have 100%student involvement in career preparation & experiential learningprograms.This position reports to the Associate Dean in the College ofBusiness
MSU Denver enrolls over 16,000 students, where nearly 60% are firstgeneration and over 55% are students of color. Responsibilities
Internship Support - 30%Identify student internship needs, wants, and availability. Coordinatewith department specific faculty and advisors to ensure student internshipcredits align with student curricular needs.Connect students to internships via announcements, university approveddatabases, referrals to workshops & career lab through the C2Hub, andfaculty announcements.Work with the COB communications team to create relevant, engaging, andup-to-date social media, newsletter, email, and website contentregarding internship events and opportunities.Assist in educating students, through workshops or connection to C2Hubprogramming, on aspects of the internship search & credit baring process.
Experiential Learning Programs - 30%Collaborate with COB Dean and/or Associate Dean(s) and aligned C2HubIndustry Navigators through regular meetings to support in information sharing& brainstorming regarding experiential learning and career-connectedopportunities (events, workshops, certifications, talent pipeline,funding, etcCoordinate with faculty who are looking to implement the experiential projectsin their courses to support in the development and implementation of projectsand create a system for tracking.In collaboration with C2Hub Industry Navigators, identify, liaise with andcatalogue organizations in the Denver Metropolitan area that are potentialpartners for experiential learning in the COB.Promote and, potentially, facilitate the implementation of experientiallearning in classes, department and college meetings, among faculty andstudentWhen requested, schedule and lead an after-action review with faculty andnecessary stakeholders followin an experiential learning project.Create a process for re-engaging and future tracking of organizations thathave engaged MSU Denver COB classrooms in experiential learning. Includefollow-ups for long-term efficacy of provided solutions at appropriateintervals (e.g., 3 - 6 - 9 months).Manage career competency related micro-credentialing programs developed andadministered out of the COB.
Experiential Learning Outreach and Development - 20%In collaboration with internal COB stakeholders and the C2Hub, identify andconnect with for-profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations inorder to identify community partners ready to engage MSU Denver students.Collaborate with internal COB stakeholders, including faculty and liaisewith external partners to shape and craft potential experiential learningopportunities for students.
Data Collection, Analysis, and Reports - 20%Outline, through data collection, current experiential learning course &departmental offerings within COB to identify gaps and develop recognitionopportunities.In collaboration with the Experiential Learning Program Manager, trackstudent participation in high impact experiences such as internships, fieldwork, research, study abroad, and project-based courses throughidentifying key COB contacts and supporting system alignment.
