Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.

Job Description
The Exercise Oncology Service (Ex-Onc) conducts clinical trials to study the efficacy of structured exercise training interventions on cardiovascular outcomes in individuals before and during cancer treatment, as well as following the completion of therapy, across a broad range of cancer diagnoses.
Mission: To conduct innovative research investigating the impact of precision exercise therapy across the cancer continuum
Objective: To change the landscape of cancer care by challenging the prevailing dogma of exercise as a “one size, fits all” therapy to one in which it is matched to the individual on the basis of physiological characteristics and/or the molecular profile of the person or tumor to deliver precision exercise medicine.

You will:
Conduct pre-participation screening and administration of health and fitness assessments.
Assist in the administration of resting as well as exercise based assessments as required by the specific Ex-Onc protocols (e.g., CPET, Bruce, 1RM, YMCA)
Identification of symptom changes/signs of exercise contraindications and initiates the appropriate medical response and processes.
Calibrate, operate and maintain exercise training equipment (e.g., treadmill, ergometers, sphygmomanometer, scales, heart rate monitors, resistance machines).
Implement and optimally supervise protocol-specific exercise training sessions either onsite of via our Tele-Exercise approach.
Understand and support Exercise Oncology Service research protocols, clinical procedures and proficiency in facilitating protocol-specific physiological testing and exercise training.
Supervise overall safety and cleanliness of exercise training location, reporting significant issues, equipment and process concerns to the EPS.
Implements MSKCC standards as it relates to care and caution in protection confidential and sensitive information related to participants, personnel and staff.
You have:
Implementation and individualized exercise training in special populations
The ability to accurately measure resting and exercising heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and subjective measures of intensity (ie: RPE, Dyspnea, etc)
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer, National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, or Sport or exercise mentor certification a plus
Pay Range $22.06-$33.18
