  Job Summary:

  The Tactical Airborne RF Sensors (TARS) Department within the Space and Air Sensors Systems Integration and Test directorate of Raytheon seeks an Electronic Warfare (EW) Self-Protection Systems (SPS) Integration & Test (I&T) Section Lead, in Goleta, CA. This individual will lead a group of approximately 12-15 IV&V Systems Engineers with some located at off-site locations primarily Point Mugu (Naval Air Station). Team members may include IPTLs, Chief Engineers and Lead Systems Engineers. This position is an onsite role.

  The Section Leader needs to be an effective communicator, leader, and decision maker, and a strong advocate for process improvement, diversity in the work force, and high professional standards. Additionally, the Section Leader must support the Department Leader in bidding new pursuits. The candidate will ensure two-way communications for section members; serve as a day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments, performance, and recognition for those working in the section.

  The Section Leader interacts frequently with the Department Leader, team leads, and Chief Engineers ensuring that the section is meeting the needs of its internal customers, external customers and the Systems Integration and Test Center. Three quarters of the Section Manager's time will be devoted to direct work on programs, as an individual IPTL, contributor, technical reviewer, or other as needed role.

  Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  Live our values of trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

  Conduct monthly team meetings and approve section members’ timecards.

  Manage manpower needs, including interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding.

  Help employees create and implement career growth and training plans.

  Conduct performance impact discussions.

  Resolve personnel problems and manage absences.

  Actively develop project leadership bench strength and work across the department to seek out talent.

  Occasional business travel is required.

  Basic Qualifications:

  Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years of prior relevant experience.

  Typically, a minimum of 10 years related EW/RADAR/RF system test engineering experience.

  Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  A Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related technical field.

  Experience and knowledge of electrical, mechanical, RF, and/or system level requirements.

  Experience in I&T of EW systems at military lab/range/flight test facilities.

  Experience in radar threat analysis and EW technique development/analysis.

  Experience in verification and validation of system and/or subsystem requirements.

  Experience with EW/RF/Microwave systems design and test.

  Experience with earned value management (EVMS) tracking and reporting.

  Experience with requirements decomposition, flow-down and verification.

  Experience in the front end of the business including proposal estimation.

  Experience with preparing management level briefings.

  Experience in a direct customer facing role.

  Experience leading small teams to achieve goals on cost and schedule.

  Willingness and ability to coach section members and hold critical conversations.

  Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.

  Additional Details:

  This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.   Location Information: This position is located in Goleta, CA. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains on one side and sandy beaches on the other. We are blessed with some of nature’s best work and our fantastic weather lets residents enjoy the outdoors almost year-round.

  The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
