The Weitz Company is currently accepting applications for an multiple levelsof Estimators to be located in Denver, CO. This candidate should haveexperience viewing and understanding plans, project management skills,performing take-offs, and tabulating sub-bids.
The Estimators prepares complete estimates for construction projects under theguidance and direction of their supervisor. Assignments will include quantitysurveying, pricing, bid solicitation, compiling cost history, andpreparation of system comparisons and cost analysis reports. Typically, theEstimators reports to the most senior estimator in the assigned businessregion
What You'll Do:Quantity surveying, pricing, bid solicitation, compiling cost history,and preparing systems comparisonsQuick creative thinking and the capability of meeting deadlines
Develop constructability review and identify potential risks inherent to theprojectOrganize subcontractor and vendor solicitation as directedParticipate in or assist with Supply Chain procurement plan processGenerate schematic estimates of projects assigned. Pricing based on historicaldata and adjusting pricing as needed to allow for project conditionsResearch and prepare cost analysis reportsObtain the review of owner contracts, and general and supplementaryconditions by the company's risk management groupAbility to compare and analyze various systems and related cost impactsOther duties as assignedBusiness travel may be required
What We're Looking For:Education: An industry-related college degree is highly preferred. Highschool diploma is required.Experience: One (1) to Six (6) years of construction estimatingresponsibility is required for this position.
Skills: This position requires schematic estimating skills, including theability to identify items required for complete systems even if not delineatedon construction documents, and the ability to mentally schedule andconstruct a building from drawings. Must have ability to communicate in aprofessional and courteous manner with clients, architects,subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams. Organization, quickcreative thinking and the ability balance and prioritize projects withimpending deadlines. A qualified candidate will be able to compare and analyzevarious systems and related cost impacts, as well as solid leadership skillsand coaching direct reports.Technology: Candidate should be familiar or proficient in On ScreenTakeoff, WinEst, Bluebeam, Revit, and other estimating software.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Training will be providedon company standards.
