Scope of Position:
In this role, you will assist the Senior Director of US State Government Affairs with the development of State and local policy positions, policy research and monitoring, presentation development, and internal and external report generation in order to educate and strengthen critical relationships to Corning Incorporated. This would include engagement with elected officials, agency leaders, and staff at all levels to ensure the organization is tracking and managing relationships and policy that is aligned with Corning Incorporated goals. The primary focus will be New York state with a secondary focus on our assets in other Northeast states including Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maine, and New Hampshire.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent company interests in dealings with trade, industry, and professional organizations
Conduct briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives
Develop coalitions to support Corning Incorporated’s policy agenda as appropriate
Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy:
Develop, coordinate, and execute comprehensive legislative strategies, and communicate and advocate for company positions and policies
Represent the company's position on legislative and regulatory affairs to elected and career government officials
Political Engagement:
Develop multi-state and local political giving strategy
Maintain political relationships with key public officials on behalf of Corning Incorporated businesses and functions
Identify emerging political leaders and opportunities
Location and Travel Requirements:
Upstate New York or Corning, NY (preferred)
Approximately 30% within New York, and occasionally the Northeast states or Washington, DC
Required Education and Area of Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
10+ years of roles of increasing responsibility in corporate, government or non-profit government affairs
Required Skills:
Knowledge of New York, its culture, and key institutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills
Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
Experience working in New York state government or regulatory agencies, including state legislature; Governor’s departments of economic, labor, environmental and energy regulatory agencies; experience with Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and New Jersey government also a positive
Experience in the corporate world with a focus on manufacturing
Legislative issue advocacy
Government funding expertise

The range for this position is $168,426.00 - $231,587.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
