Description
As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating the costs associated with construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to analyze project requirements and provide accurate estimates to facilitate decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis:
Review project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
Conduct site visits and gather relevant information to assess project scope and potential challenges.
Cost Estimation:
Utilize cost estimation software and tools to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
Break down project costs into material, labor, equipment, and overhead components.
Consider factors such as permits, insurance, and contingencies in cost calculations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather input and ensure accurate estimates.
Communicate effectively with team members to address any discrepancies or changes in project requirements.
Vendor and Supplier Relations:
Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to determine the most cost-effective options.
Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bids, and related documentation.
Provide clear and detailed reports to management and other stakeholders.
Budget Management:
Assist in the development of project budgets based on the estimated costs.
Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction process.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a construction estimator in the industry.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes.
Proficiency in using construction estimation software.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
