  JOB SUMMARY:

  Under the supervision of the Emergency Services Director, the RN ED Manager shares responsibility for the overall coordination of patient flow and services delivered to clients. The Manager is a clinical leader who is responsible for overseeing and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to support the organizational and the departmental mission, vision, values, and goals. The Manager works to model patient safety, patient advocacy, teamwork, respect, and efficiency. The RN ED Manager works with the RN Emergency Department Director to ensure quality patient care through efficient management of safe daily schedules/staffing. The Manager is given the authority to handle personnel, scheduling, and patient related issues within the parameters set by the Director. The Manager will work alongside the Director to oversee staff competency needs and provide/participate in staff education regarding changes in standard of care, quality, and regulatory guidelines. The Manager will contribute to staff evaluations. The Manager is responsible for contributing to and supporting identified quality improvement activities, process/performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory requirements related to the Emergency Department.

  KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: At least one to two years of experience in Medical, Surgical, or Emergency Nursing direct patient care is required. Experience in supervision/management preferred. Demonstrates progressive leadership abilities.

  EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited RN nursing program. Associates degree in Registered Nursing required. BSN preferred.

  LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana licensure as a Registered Nurse. BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certification required.

  Necessary managerial skills:

Ability to problem solve, be creative, and think “out of the box.” Values integrity above all else, communicates ideas openly and directly, and welcomes openness and honesty from others. Follows through to foster the growth and development of others. Ability to provide clear feedback, coach, mentor, and provide positive reinforcement. Ability to inspire, motivate, and build a strong team.
