The System Equity & Inclusion Consultant serves as liaison and consultant on organizational equity and inclusion effectiveness. The consultant uses subject matter expertise to recommend and coordinate interventions to address identified issues for system hospital and ambulatory entities and departments.
This role will support and develop programs/initiatives that span multiple system entities and departments and will ensure successful execution through project/program planning, monitoring, progress reporting, and completion of projects in line with project plan.
Working closely with department leadership, system-wide colleagues, and community contacts/third parties, the consultant will support inclusive workforce efforts, health equity and community engagement throughout the system.
Responsibilities:
The Equity and Inclusion (EI) Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
Health Equity: Supports and the execution of system-wide strategies to further the Equity & Inclusion (EI) Department’s strategic priorities and goals to eliminate inequities in the access and delivery of health care to patient communities. Collaborates with UNC Health leaders and colleagues to identify patient care needs in access and delivery of health care.
Inclusive Workforce: Supports the execution of system-wide strategies to further the Equity & Inclusion (EI) Department’s strategic priorities and goals in creating and maintaining an inclusive and welcoming environment for teammates. Provides consultations and collaborates with cross-functional teams and UNC Health leaders to assess management and workforce needs. Acts as primary point of contact to coordinate the planning, execution, and administrative tasks of Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) by providing input on programming events and initiatives, answering questions, and triaging ERG questions.
Instructional Delivery: Supports the execution of system-wide strategies to further Department of Equity and Inclusion (EI) strategic priorities and goals in providing meaningful, engaging, and measurable instructional programs. Facilitates and delivers the best instructional methodologies to advance EI priorities and evaluates the effectiveness and quality of learning session’s delivery and content. Collaborates with the Sr. Learning and Organizational Development Consultant for Equity & Inclusion on development of content and instructional methodologies.
Community Engagement: Supports the execution of system-wide strategies to further Department of Equity and Inclusion (EI) strategic priorities and goals to improve the health of the communities we serve. Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across the system to identify opportunities to engage community partners and develop and expand partnerships that support EI initiatives.
Accessibility: Supports the execution of system-wide strategies to further the statewide language access program and ADA accommodations program to reduce disparities in access to quality care.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
Professional Experience Requirements:
Minimum three (3) years’ of Equity and Inclusion experience (e.g. health disparities, health equity, and workforce diversity) concepts and programs, which should include:
Minimum one (1) years’ experience initiating and developing projects/programs/initiatives in a complex organization
Minimum one (1) years’ of training and facilitation experience
Minimum one (1) years’ experience working in healthcare industry
Preferred Experience:
Health equity, inclusive workforce, instructional delivery, and/or community engagement
Working with historically underrepresented groups
Facilitating challenging conversations amongst groups
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Proven analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
Manages conflict and solves problems effectively
Ability to be flexible and adaptable
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and electronic learning tools (webinar, telepresence, electronic poling, etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong project management skills to handle complex projects simultaneously.
Ability to travel within the State of North Carolina required
