  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  Education

  A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.Experience

  Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in EEO and civil rights, analysis, compliance, enforcement, and administration; performing effective documentation of discrimination complaints; and exercising effective judgment interpreting EEO-related guidelines and regulations with potential complainants and demonstrated success in dealing with various equal employment opportunity activities. Also, must have experience working in a similarly large organization (10,000 plus employees in size) or a transit agency.Preferred

  Experience

  Experience working in a transit authority or public transportation is preferred.Medical Group

  Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.

  SUMMARY

  The Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator is solely responsible for generating complaint docket numbers, for maintaining various fields of data in the PeopleSoft grievance/complaint databases, and for closing complaints. The EEO Coordinator is responsible for creating and analyzing weekly reports of open complaint cases which is utilized by management to ensure complaints assigned are making progress, that documentation is being maintained by investigators in complaint files per procedures. The incumbent also ensures that requests for information on pending complaint cases from outside of OEEO are responded to in a timely manner. The EEO Coordinator is the first point of contact for various avenues used by employees and customers/riders seeking to file complaint of discrimination.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  Maintains OEEO complaint records in the designated system. Ensures that records are accurate and useable in investigating OEEO complaints filed and in responding to external inquiries.

  Conducts initial interviews for Title VI or Title VII complaints / issues that reside within the office of OEEO.

  Receives, screens, assesses, and disseminates inquiries (received by telephone, email and other electronic media) from employees, customers and others for appropriate handling and resolution on a daily basis. Distributes inquiries and complaints to appropriate OEEO Staff. Ensures timely response to individuals and referrals meet the IBOP 24-hour response goal.

  Prepares reports capturing complaint information and documenting OEEO performance using established KPIs. Ensures proper documentation of OEEO activities is complete and disseminates OEEO information in concise and accurate format.

  Provides administrative support for OEEO personnel such as: managing the Director, OEEO’s calendar; sending out complaint correspondence; preparing required paperwork to secure assistance from other departments (i.e. IT request forms, travel/training forms). Ensures smooth, efficient and timely operation of the office.

  OTHER FUNCTIONS

  Responds to requests for information by preparing and delivering complaint records in a timely manner to support litigation and other official uses.The functions listed are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position. Nor is it intended to limit in any way the right of managers and supervisors to assign, direct and control the work of employees under their supervision.

  • Skills and/or behavioral assessment

  • Personal interview

  • Verification of education and experience (including certifications and licenses)

  • Criminal Background Check (a criminal conviction is not an automatic bar to employment)

  • Medical examination including a drug and alcohol screening (for safety sensitive positions)

  • Review of a current motor vehicle report
