Job Description
Robert Bosch Automotive Steering LLC of Plymouth, MI seeks a proactive, highly motivated Resident Engineer to provide on-site support representing Bosch at an OEM in Detroit Metro area.
Provide development support for the start of production and the serial production of programs for steering systems at Bosch production facilities.
Manage design and commercial change process at the OEM coordinated with the Bosch change management process.
Provide Mechanical & Electrical Power Steering Vehicle Integration Support at all levels with OEM Engineering and Manufacturing organizations.
Understands software interface, structure and communication. Familiarity with flashing tools.
Manage interactions within the customer and Bosch program teams. Provide engineering support for multiple products to achieve a steering system design that is optimal for vehicle performance, piece cost, capital investment, quality and manufactureability.
Lead problem solving resolution, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts during launch phase of all programs assigned, either at OEM or manufacturing facility.
Responsible for interpreting the customer’s specifications for assigned products related to the steering system and associated components.
Lead customer prototype process, including coordinating and expediting orders and shipments for prototype and development parts, initiating build programs and releasing parts to the customer for production.
Run regularly scheduled Product Development Team (PDT) meetings, and distribute meeting minutes and/or action item lists to the project team members as required.
Communicate customer information and requirements to and from organizations outside engineering.
Assist in budget control activity such as reducing BOM and supplier tooling costs, reducing capital investment, or improving product manufacture ability by initiating VA/VE activity.
Responsible for maintaining and updating all customer Statement of Requirements documentation and other specifications that are related to the products assigned and associated components.
Responsible for service release of assigned products and associated components Provide support for Customer and Bosch engineering and manufacturing facilities.
Identify growth opportunities with the OEM.
Work time allocation 70% Customer and 30% to Bosch
Current work environment is hybrid for Customer and Bosch
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Ability to walk throughout manufacturing plant/departments and stand for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
2+ years’ experience designing, developing or testing in an electrical or software environment
Ability to travel locally regularly; non-local travel might be needed 1-2x per year (possibly internationally)
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
Ability to walk throughout manufacturing plant/departments and stand for extended periods of time
Preferred :
2+ years’ experience designing, developing or testing of Electric Power Steering Systems within automotive industry
Flashing software experience
Software/Hardware Electrical interface experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Program/Change Management execution
Problem Solving & Analytical Methods: Red-X, DFSS, DFMEA and PFMEA
