DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Environmental Health Specialist, you will be responsible for planning and organizing the Bureau of Community Health System's Environmental Health program in the Northeast District. This position covers the counties of Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming. The Environmental Health program covers but is not limited to the organized camp program, local health program (which includes local health officers), right-to know program (R-2-K), collaboration on the public bathing place program, and emergency response team member.
Your duties include monitoring health status and identifying community health problems, diagnosing, and investigating health problems and hazards in communities, developing policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts; enforcing laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety, and researching for new insights and new innovative solutions to health problems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. While the job is a telework eligible position, it will be necessary to travel to locations within the district to perform the job duties. To telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the assigned work location in Lehigh, Northampton or Carbon County.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.Hiring preference will be given to candidates who reside within the Northeast District. If you do not live within the Northeast District, you must be willing to relocate to the Northeast District or one of the immediately surrounding counties.
