  Do you enjoy a variety of responsibilities, both indoors and outside? We have an opportunity for you! We are looking for an individual who works well under supervision, can perform a wide variety of ground maintenance work; assist with basic building maintenance; surface clean our offices; and can do related work as the need arises. High school degree or equivalent plus one year of experience in performing grounds maintenance and landscaping work. Possession of a valid California drivers license within 30 days of hire.

  This is an important position as this person will assist in keeping our wastewater facilities well maintained. Successful candidate will be a good communicator and be well organized. The right person for this position would have knowledge of or desire to learn the following skills.

  Care and maintenance of plants, shrubs and trees, including accepted pruning and trimming techniques.

  Hand and power tools, materials, equipment used in grounds and landscape maintenance.

  Basic building maintenance tools and procedures.

  Safe work practices.

  Mobility in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Exposure to electrical equipment (moving parts), chemical substances, fumes and dust, all of which may be hazardous due to pesticides/herbicides. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  Sick Leave:

  Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.

  Medical Benefits:

  Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.

  The temporary Building and Grounds Worker I position will be responsible for a wide variety of grounds maintenance and gardening work at the various wastewater facilities to include the care and maintenance of plants, shrubs and trees, including accepted pruning and trimming techniques and will assist with basic building maintenance and repair work.
