The Occupational Safety Expert or Project Environmental, Health and Safety Manager - EHSMiP drives implementation of the Siemens Energy policy and Zero Harm Program and supports the business throughout the various phases of a project to ensure compliance with applicable internal and external rules & regulations to prevent EHS related hazards and risks.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Support of the project and site management in planning, implementing, and monitoring EHS procedures and rules, reporting of relevant KPI’s and ensuring a continuous improvement. The EHSMiP establishes the EHS management system for the project which meets internal, customer, regulatory, and business needs and oversees its implementation and monitors compliance. The EHSMiP works mainly from the office as part of the project management team, however business trips to construction sites are necessary at times.
Identify EHS related statutory and Customer requirements, rules & regulations and EHS aspects.
Perform risk assessments and define mitigation measures.
Provides input for tender/bid phase with regard to costs (EHS budget) and EHS risks.
Support project management to define EHS-related requirements and responsibilities to be integrated in Customers and Contractor’s agreements.
Develop an emergency management concept for the construction site.
Develop a project specific EHS plan.
Supports PM to ensure that required EHS-related permits, authorizations, certificates are available, and authorities have been notified as necessary.
Provide guidance and support to the EHS team at site.
Implement a training concept, that fulfills all EHS related training requirements.
Ensure that requirements of the EHS plan are known by all relevant stakeholders.
Ensure that risk assessments are carried out to the highest standards and reviews EHS documentation provided by the Contractors.
Liaise with customer/contractor EHS representatives in regard to project execution and onsite EHS issues.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify risks and defines corrective measures.
Provide regular EHS reports to the project and/or site manager to ensure full operational transparency.
Ensure all incidents are investigated and recorded and appropriate measures are defined, implemented, and monitored.
Plan and conduct assessments of (sub-)contractor EHS performance.
Escalate in case of non-compliance with legal, business or customer´s EHS requirements.
Analyze statistics including near misses to identify trends and implements counter measures.
Promote the sharing of best practices and documents lessons learned.
Evaluate contractors in terms of their EHS performance and feedback to project procurement manager.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, operations management, or similar, with related work experience
Relevant Safety Certificates
Minimum of 3 years work experience in the field of occupational safety
Expert knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis methodology
Offshore safety knowledge preferred
Substantial site related experience from industrial and/or construction business or similar.
Working experience in global projects and/or interdisciplinary teams preferred
Willingness to travel 20-30 %
