The Opportunity
In this role, you will provide support in the implementation and monitoring of the Company’s hazardous waste program and safety and health program in the Company’s retail store operations in California. This role provides hands-on oversight and interaction with the Company’s retail store operations, to include hazardous waste programmatic development and compliance. This role will be responsible for overseeing retail store operations in Southern California. Expect to travel 75% of the time in the greater Southern California area.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• In a field support role, engage in on-site training; auditing; site assessments; store support of the Company’s hazardous waste program.
• Evaluate store environments against federal, state, and industry-specific environmental and safety and health requirements and guidelines.
• Partner with retail store operations in conducting training and auditing programs concerning environmental, health and safety.
• Develop/update training and coaching of field store teams regarding required practices with respect to hazardous waste and environmental regulations.
• Conduct on-site audits in stores, manage scheduling of auditing program.
• Analyze completed audits and summarize audit results on a periodic basis.
• Identify, direct, and supervise actions when/if an urgent issue is discovered during an audit. Follow up with field leadership to ensure mitigation.
• Directly communicate with government inspectors and regulators regarding the Company’s environmental and safety and health programs.
• Stay current and informed regarding trends in California enforcement areas to serve as the Company’s resource expert as it relates to hazard waste.
• Assist with the response to any Notices of Violation, citations, or Return to Compliance.
• Monitor compliance metrics to ensure proper execution of policies and procedures.
• Monitor new compliance challenges and keep Store Operations apprised of same.
• Provide support on store requests for safety and health assistance and responses to regulatory visits or internal audit findings.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• 1-3 years’ experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, Environmental Regulatory Requirements.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination education and experience.
• Experience in administering programs with regulatory oversight.
• Strong people skills; the ability to quickly develop relationships and communicate with multiple internal and external business partners.
• Analytical thinking and problem solving; able to creatively solve problems, innovative approaches where required with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices related to health and safety compliance.
• Detail-oriented and coordination of multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Ability to work flexible schedule.
• Travel approximately 75% in Southern California.
Preferred Qualifications:
• OSHA 30 Certification
• Professional certifications, such as GSP, ASP, CSP and/or ARM
Start Rate = $60k - 79k based on experience + Bonus + RSUs
