About Engineering Technician IV (EPFSS)

  AI Signal Research, Inc. (ASRI) is recruiting for the Engineering Prototype Fabrication Support Services (EPFSS) Task Order at NSWC Dahlgren Division.

  Education:

  High School Diploma or GED

  Months/Years of Experience:

  Eight (8) years of full time professional experience as an Engineering Technician, performing the following skills: welding (mig, tig, stick, and gas) or machine operation (lathes and mills), sheet metal fabrication, interpreting models and drawing packages, recommend, order, receive, and process materials and tooling for specific jobs, ability to program CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks, provide machine time and materials estimates, extensive knowledge of and mentoring other employees in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAMWorks, extensive CNC programming experience and mentoring other employees, manage drafting projects with minimal instruction, ensure drawings are to MIL SPEC and ASME drafting standards, assist in review of drawings for completeness and accuracy, versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, perform complex drafting and design calculations with review.

  Required Qualifications:

  U.S. Citizen. Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance.

  Skills Needed:

  Welding; machine operation, basic drafting, CAD/CAM software; CNC programming.

  Duties:

  The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

  a. Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;

  b. Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.

  c. Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;

  d. Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.

  e. Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

  Comments:
