Job Summary: The Engineering Technician V is responsible forthe planning, implementation, and performance of advanced electrical,mechanical, audio, and environmental tests of current and new productdesigns under general supervision. Facilitates continuous improvementactivities to reduce the potential for product defects. Partners withEngineering and is involved with problem identification, containmentactivities, action plan creation and execution. Ensures that the testrequirements for product testing and processes are defined and met. TheEngineering Technician V is a process and technical resource whocontributes to process improvements and assists others in achievingtheir goals. The Engineering Technician V reports to an EngineeringSupervisor and/or Manager and requires minimal supervision. EssentialDuties and Responsibilities: Testing Setup test equipment and productsin proper sequence per testing procedures. Perform tests on prototypes,existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involvingmechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functionsthrough ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations. Use variousmechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices. Accuratelyinterpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, andother measurements. Fabricate and lead assembly of test equipment andprototype products per blueprint specifications. Develop and validatebill of materials in conjunction with Engineering team; Validatelaboratory testing methods and demonstrate testing competence per ISO17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations. Clerical Maintaintest-related documentation in database environment. Analyze test dataand prepare formal and informal test reports. Assist with the GeneracEngineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs. Update anddevelop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement ofthe Engineering Lab. Other Duties Actively participate with fellow Labteam members in daily maintenance of Lab environment and preventivemaintenance of Lab equipment.
