  Engineering Support Specialist- Gas Systems Unit

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist to join the Operations Engineering Group. This group is highly valued in the organization and has a lot of big plans for the foreseeable future. We are seeking a team player and someone who has experience in a relevant Engineering-oriented field.

  As an integral member of the team, you will gain experience and work through a backlog of data mining projects to support the Distribution Integrity Management Program… who wouldn’t be excited about contributing to an organization's current and future successes?   Key responsibilities of this position include:

  Operations Dataset Collection/Review Management (40% of the time)

  Review data and refine mobile ESRI Field Maps GIS application for Visual Pipe Inspection Information

  Review data and support valve inspections with Gas Distribution Operations personnel in accordance with § 192.747. Maintain and modify the Microsoft Power BI dashboard tracking inspection progress

  Review data and support regulator inspections with Gas Distribution Operations personnel in accordance with § 192.739. Create and maintain Microsoft Power BI dashboard tracking inspection progress

  Review data and support gas creek crossing inspections with Gas Quality Control Inspectors in accordance with § 192.721

  Responsible for pulling data for internal and external audits for datasets listed above

  Data Investigation Projects (40% of the time)

  Work through a backlog of data mining projects to support the Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP)

  Service card mapping reviews

  Conduct quantity takeoffs for backlog of identified integrity projects

  Assist with GIS change request submittals

  Projects derived from newly identified threats to the gas distribution system

  Tracking and Traceability Data Collection Process Planning (20% of the time)

  Assist with the implementation of Gas Digital As-Building Processes as needed

  Assist with hardware implementation and training of field personnel

  Become a Gas Operations Division hardware expert

  Who you are...

  Associate’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or a closely related field from an accredited university; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program

  2-4 Years of Experience in a relevant engineering-oriented field preferred (Gas Utility experience is valued)

  Experience with ESRI GIS Ecosystem is highly valued

  Knowledge of applicable federal and state pipeline safety regulations, particularly Title 49 CFR Part 192, is beneficial

  Strong interpersonal skills that establish effective relationships, strong attention to detail, and ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment

  General knowledge of distribution pipeline practices, procedures, and operating standards
