Job Summary
Manages, drives, plans, and implements vehicle scheduling, allocation,dispatching, licensing, and communication functions in accordance withestablished policies and objectives to affect Friends of Children andFamilies (FOCAF) Head Start.
Essential Functions
Organizes and directs preventive maintenance and repairs of FOCAFvehicles and submits all fiscal requests.
Monitors annual budget and expenditures.
Monitors bus routes, pre & post checklist, parent sign in and outsheets, student count sheets, bus evacuation drills, vehicle trip reportand receipts.
Develops policies, programs, and procedures for transportation system,including schedules, routes, assignment of drivers and vehicles,observations of drivers, and other terminal operations.
Reviews and revises driver schedules to ensure increased efficiency andto lower costs.
Trains regular and substitute bus drivers.
Trains bus monitors annually and on-going.
Conducts observations of bus drivers.
Ensures safety of the Organizations bus fleet, Bus Drivers, BusMonitors, Children, Families and Staff.
Must be able to effectively respond and communicate timely notice ofchanges in transportation services to parents, volunteers, bus drivers,and appropriate co-workers.
Keeps immediate supervisor, and designated others fully and accuratelyinformed concerning work progress.
Drives assigned bus routes as needed.
Responsible for administering the bus communication phone system.
Adheres strictly to all agency, federal, state, CDL and local compliancemeasures and safety practices for transporting children on a bus.
Must prioritize and adjust to the changing demands of the position.
Handles and adapts to stressful situations.
Demonstrates commitment for professional development and continuousgrowth by actively seeking out and participating in trainingopportunities.
Engages with supervisor and co-workers on constructive and timelyfeedback, accepting feedback as a growth opportunity, and is open tocontinuous improvement for oneself and the organization.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age per DOT Regulation # 391.11 Subpart B.
Must possess and maintain a current Commercial Drivers License issued bythe State of Idaho with passenger and school bus endorsements and aclean driving record.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an Associate of ArtsDegree in a transportation services or related field; or graduation fromhigh school or possession of a GED.
Training in commercial vehicle maintenance and three years supervisoryor management experience in a related field.
Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state,federal, and FOCAF Head Start Standards
Must pass a drug test and submit to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
Ability to complete training and maintain Boise City Child Care WorkerLicense; and certification in First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge of DOT regulations with regard to safety standards, vehicledriver requirements, etc.
Must register on the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
