This is an on-site, individual contributor role at the Fluid Systems Division, Elyria, Ohio site.
Position Summary:
With direct supervision, responsible for any combination of engineering technical duties which require a high degree of accuracy in one or more of the following functions: Materials & Processes, Dynamics, Electronic, Mechanical, Calibration, Customer Support, and Fabrication.
Essential Functions:
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
Materials & Processes
Operate laboratory equipment including: rockwell hardness, microhardness, tensile, emissions spectroscopy, contamination, metallurgical preparation, etc. following well defined written and/or verbal instructions. Demonstrate a basic understanding of materials & processes specifications.
Dynamics
Assist in the set-up and testing of digital sine/random and shock test equipment including: accelerometers, centrifuge, oscilloscopes, hookups, oscillographs and x-y plotters following well defined verbal and written instructions, MIL-STD-810 and engineering procedures. Demonstrate a basic understanding of standards with respect to dynamic testing.
Electronic
Assist in the construction of electronic and electromechanical assemblies. Layout, assemble cables, wire chassis, and circuit boards based on drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams/lists, and/or verbal instructions. Perform limited testing of electronic circuits using standard and specialized electronic test equipment following well defined verbal and written instructions. Demonstrate a basic understanding of electronic principles.
Mechanical
Set-up and operate basic hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment. Assemble component parts based on assembly drawings. Construct limited test set-ups and perform testing based on test documents, written and/or verbal instructions. Demonstrate a basic understanding of fluid power systems an cryogenic materials.
Calibration
Performs calibration on various types of basic to semi-complex electronic measuring and test equipment (M&TE). Demonstrates ability and learns to set-up calibration test conditions interpreting calibration procedures, engineering specifications, schematics, or related documents. Documents and evaluates historical data to determine calibration intervals. Diagnoses and develops calibration procedures. Demonstrates basic knowledge of electronic principles and calibration requirements per National and International Standards.
Customer Support
Assists with maintenance on a basic fluid, hydraulic and pneumatic products and systems and investigations into customer reports of technical product or service problems. May provide on-site technical assistance to repair, replace, overhaul or take other corrective action; may perform rework or inspection of Parker’s fielded hardware. Maintains performance and maintenance service records. Ensures accuracy of work instructions and engineer approved documents.
Fabrication
With direct supervision, employee must understand basic tools, fixtures and gages. Assist in setting up and operates many types of machine tools including CNC machines. Holds tolerances and understands B/P dimensioning requirements. Familiarity with various materials including aluminum, stainless steel and tool steels. Assist in purchasing, storing and managing materials and hardware for the purpose for fabricating product.
All Specialities:
· Utilize hand tools and power tools.
· Maintain up-to-date qualification data and log books on each project.
· Perform other related responsibilities.
· Evaluate field returns and process repaired and overhauled products to FAA standards, if required.
· Participate in lean and high-performance team activities
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Two years related experience, trade or military training, or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings, sketches, schematics and procedures.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Personal hand tools may be required.
May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Meet appropriate soldering certification requirements.
Pass a drug test prior to entering the position and be subjected to random drug testing if covered by the FAA/DOT Anti-drug program.
Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
Personal computer skills required.
Other duties as required to assist the team leader.

May require appropriate solder certification.
Typical Mental and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and may be required to operate many types of machine tools. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Annual vision acuity testing required. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to pass a drug test prior to entering the position and be subject to random drug testing if covered by the FAA/DOT Anti-drug program. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written interpersonal skills and work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public. Ability to manage multiple tasks at once. The employee may be required to work around or visit manufacturing operations with exposure to noise, fumes, heavy machinery and other shop related hazards. The employee may be required to travel to vendors or customers including overnight trips.
