JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE :
Provide Technical reviews of work documents, strategies and plans around the construction or maintenance phase as part of implementing the risk controls process for all aspects of transmission work which could impact critical customers. The primary focus of the risk assessment processes is identification of risk and ensuring eliminating or mitigating practices are implemented as applicable.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES :
Implements risk control processes throughout transmission for all aspects of the capital and O&M portfolio which could impact nuclear, industrial customers and other strategic customers
Provide/develop technical reviews of work strategies and documents pertaining to execution of work tasks being performed by all organizations within transmission
Upon reviewing the work being performed, the objective is to identify risk and ways to manage, mitigate, or eliminate risk while identifying potential work bundling opportunities
Serves as a primary contact for questions related to completing risk assessments while working in a team environment evaluating the reliability risk associated with activities in one or more of the following key areas, relay protection schemes, operations and planning, substation and transmission line practices
This position provides a wide variety of opportunities and exposure to different groups within Transmission
Will lead, participate and/or develop procedures, metrics and training materials supporting implementation of risk processes across all of Transmission assets, as well as challenge transmission organizations to apply consistent risk control process
Lead critical evolution meetings with all necessary stakeholders centered on the risk profile of the tasks and projects being evaluated
Provides input to design engineers, construction engineers, planning, and project managers on ways to reduce the reliability risk while developing their project scope of work
Actively participate in project team meetings to discuss risk profiles in early development stages of proposed projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution
Degrees in Engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Proven leadership capabilities
Minimum Experience:
Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Preferred: Experience in relay, protection, isolations, or settings with an understanding of transmission line or substation work practices, standards, procedures, and processes
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess organizational skills with ability to work with others on multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with moving between multiple tasks, while prioritizing work assignments
Ability to communicate effectively with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company
Demonstrate analytical, problem solving and documentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; team player
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Preferred:
Experience in relay, protection, isolations, or settings with an understanding of transmission line or substation work practices, standards, procedures, and processes
Experience with design, planning, project management, operations and/or construction practices is desirable
