　　The Role

　　This position is part of the Newport News Shipbuilding Radiological Controls Engineering group, responsible for providing engineering support to service Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. Radiological Controls Engineering offers a challenging, high paced, team environment with opportunity to excel and endless possibilities for professional growth.

　　Radiological Controls Engineering consists of three main group: Reactor Servicing, Overhaul Maintenance for Aircraft Carriers, and Fleet Support, Facilities, & Special Emphasis Projects. Radiological Controls Engineering is seeking all engineering disciplines to include General Engineering, Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, and others. 　　Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems. Conducts research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors. Conducts studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. Studies nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal. Other areas of research include radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses and performance metrics. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.

　　Must Have

　　Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;

　　Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;

　　Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

　　Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
