This groupencompasses multiple shops in Facilities Management and acts as an advisingpartner for the Office of Design and Construction. Areas of advisement includeenergy management, equipment review, project commissioning, buildingaudit and fire/life safety.Responsibilities Include:
Building AuditThis position works in support of the Associate Director of Facilities andoversees the building audit process. The person in this position will auditmechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and also utilize staff inFacilities Management to help with these audits. Duties include:Utilize software to perform audits and run reportsManage the audit process and schedule buildings to be auditedMaintain the deferred maintenance listWork with the Director of the Office of Design and Construction on reportingto the State and for requesting Controlled Maintenance
Energy Management DutiesThe Energy and Technical Services Manager serves as the Energy Manager for theUniversity. Duties in this area include:Advise on capital projects regarding design for energy efficiencyBenchmarking energy use for internal purposes and State of ColoradorequirementsCollaborate with energy consultants on energy projects; work with thecontrols group to make sure proper energy metering is maintained; and workwith the Sustainability Coordinator in the creation of sustainability reportsand plans in relation to the energy and water use componentsReview internal monthly billing of energy submetersWork with the Director of Facilities on the annual energy budgetAuditing equipment and buildings as required for energy efficiencyManage small energy efficiency projects and coordinate with ODC on themanagement of large energy projects
Project CommissioningThe person in this role collaborates with the Associate Director of Facilitiesand the Commissioning and Audit Specialist to perform internal commissioningof capital projects.Duties include:Plan and Specification review during the design phaseSubmittal review as needed during constructionConstruction site walksParticipation in design and construction meetings as neededAdvisor on campus standards
Management DutiesThis position will initially manage three individuals:Fire Alarm TechnicianFire Sprinkler TechnicianCommissioning and Audit Project Specialist
The Manager will be a contact for the fire department regarding reporting andimpairments. Duties include:Provide engineering technical support for the fire life safety techniciansServe as a backup for impairment notificationsManage the fire life safety budgets
This position will have management responsibility for a new Small ProjectsTeam as well. This team will consist of three Structural Trades IIpersonnel, and their purpose is to perform small project work around campusin lieu of subcontracting it out to general contractors.The Manager will beinvolved in the hiring of the team and its supervision.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering5 or more years of experience in engineering, energy management,commissioning or facilities managementExcellent writing skills and strong computer skills
Preferred QualificationsRegistered Professional EngineerCertified Energy Manager preferred or ability to obtain that within one yearof hireExperience as a Commissioning Agent and/or certification as a CommissioningProfessional by one of the certifying agenciesKnowledge of one or more of the building mechanical trades with hands-onexperiencePrior project or construction management experience in a multi-facilityeducational environment
Salary and Benefits$94,500 - $109,500 annual salary rate
