About End User Computing Engineer / Telecommunication Engineer

  Life-Science Innovations has a new, full time opportunity for a hybrid-remote End User Computing Engineer / Telecommunication Engineer to join their team.

  The End User Computing Engineer / Telecommunication Engineer’s role is to  act as the product owner for a range of End User Computing (EUC) technologies, steering the strategic direction and innovation of our IT services. This position is not merely about support; it's about owning the lifecycle and effectiveness of EUC solutions, from initial design to implementation and continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in enhancing our end users' IT experience by ensuring the seamless integration and optimal performance of technologies such as internet connectivity, softphones, and remote site solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass a holistic approach to managing technology stacks, including hardware and software configurations, system upgrades, and vendor relations. This role calls for a blend of technical acumen and strategic foresight, enabling you to lead projects that align with our organizational objectives and drive the technological advancement of our IT infrastructure.

  Life-Science Innovations is the administrative partner that serves a group of companies involved in agri-business, bioscience, and technology, located on the beautiful MinnWest Technology Campus (http://www.mnwesttechnology.com/)  in Willmar, MN.

  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  Manage and lead efforts to deliver optimized EUC solutions, including defining hardware and software configurations, OS platform upgrades for mobile devices and desktops/laptops, and client software deployments.

  Oversee client antivirus software, imaging design and engineering, and end-user device driver management.

  Be responsible for image/application development and compatibility testing of packages across various computer platforms, including VDI and associated third-party support.

  Build and maintain relationships with telecommunications vendors (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum) to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  Evaluate and respond to security alerts, vulnerabilities, and industry risks within the EUC environment, leveraging advanced workstation analytics to develop proactive solutions.

  Enforce service levels and offerings for end-user computing, including approving and enforcing processes for software technology platforms, distribution, and deployment.

  Review and assess existing telecom services and stay informed on market trends to suggest and implement innovative solutions.

  Manage connectivity and offer technical support across agricultural sites, ensuring reliable connectivity.

  Analyze financial data related to telecom services for cost optimization.

  The ideal candidate will have the following educational and experience background:

  Able to work full-time onsite in Willmar, MN or hybrid-remote within driving distance of Willmar, MN. 

  Bachelor’s degree in IT (e.g., Computer Science) or 6+ years’ experience in related information technology.

  Demonstrated experience in telecommunications, IT support, and network management, preferably in agricultural settings.

  Expertise in desktop support, including automation builds, patches, and applications.

  Strong negotiation and analytical skills, particularly in vendor management and cost-benefit analysis.

  General knowledge of networking principles, device management, and current telecom trends.

  Excellent communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.

  Experience in strategic planning within telecommunications, aligning with organizational objectives.

  Willingness to travel as needed.

  Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, effective communication.

  Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and ticketing systems, demonstrating the ability to effectively handle service requests and incident management.

  Experience with Intune MDM, Microsoft’s SCCM, Manage Engine’s End Point Central. Experience in the O365 Microsoft suite of tools: MS Teams phones, Teams Calling, OneDrive, Outlook.

  Experience managing cellular voice and data devices.

  Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.

  Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, bridges, and routers.

  Familiarity or certification in ITIL methodologies, reflecting a strong understanding of IT service management best practices.

  Understanding of AD group policies.
