About ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM)

  Summary You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (ATC SYSTEMS) in the Ground Electronics Maintenance Division of NAVAL AIR STATION. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number:ST-12238172-24-ACT. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement. Responsibilities You will conduct functional tests to diagnose the extent and location of Air Traffic Control (ATC) Data Networking Systems malfunctions. You will implement preventative and corrective maintenance by diagnosing radar and communication systems malfunctions and operating difficulties. You will analyze electronic communication systems to determine design or operational problems. You will conduct on-the-job (OJT) training to required personnel relating to Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications EXTERNAL APPLICANTS Outside applicants claiming VEOA and VRA (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service) must meet specialized experience requirements equivalent to the (GS-10) grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Analyzing, investigating, testing, repairing, adjusting, diagnosing, and verifying certification of an individual or a combination of complex systems; 2) Repairing airfield electronic equipment, air traffic control systems, radars, instrument approach systems, navigational aids, and communications systems to solve complex technical problems or improve system performance; 3) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; 4) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; 5) Independently collecting data identifying system trends and determining system degradation and submitting design modifications; and 6) Performing site certification of ATC and Airfield Landing systems. NOTE: YOUR ANSWER MUST BE FULLY SUPPORTED BY THE EXPERIENCE DESCRIBED IN YOUR RÉSUMÉ INTERNAL APPLICANTS Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees must meet specialized experience requirements equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Reviewing technical airfield electronic work for compliance with regulations; 2) Troubleshooting and repairing airfield electronic equipment, air traffic control systems, radars, instrument approach systems, navigational aids, and communications systems to solve complex technical problems or improve system performance; 3) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; 4) Using applicable test equipment, test methods and practices as related to the Air Traffic Control equipment and systems, including safety precautions; 5) Assist with performing site certification of ATC and Airfield Landing systems; and 6) Applying knowledge of Naval Air Traffic Control, air navigation aids and landing systems NOTE: YOUR ANSWER MUST BE FULLY SUPPORTED BY THE EXPERIENCE DESCRIBED IN YOUR RÉSUMÉ Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Electronics Technical Series 0856 (opm.gov) General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
