Electronic Technician performs a variety of intermediate level electronics testing, troubleshooting, and repair on telecommunications and other electronic equipment.
Purpose of Job:
Performs a variety of intermediate level electronics testing, troubleshooting, and repair on telecommunications and other electronic equipment
Primary Job Roles/Responsibilities:
Performs moderately complex tests on telecommunications and electronic equipment
Repairs telecommunications and other electronic equipment by troubleshooting to component level without the use of schematics
Performs replacement of components including surface mount technology on highly technical electronics
May act as escalation point for less experienced technicians
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of the job
Knowledge of telecommunication product part numbers and associated electronics system to be used for testing
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of electronic theory
Knowledge of product specific electronic systems and understanding of functionality
Soldering skills, both surface mount and through-hole
Education Level: Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
Educational Focus (Field of Study): Electronics or other Technical area
Relevant Work Experience (quantity): 1-3 Years
Experience Specifics (if applicable): Soldering, Electronics repair
Decision Making: Examines situation to Select Best of Defined Alternatives
Physical Demands: Fine motor skills, standing for extending periods of time
Vision Requirements (List any critical vision requirements beyond normal office needs, e.g. close, distant, color, peripheral, depth, etc.)
Work Environment: Solder vapors, electricity, misc. chemicals
