About ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, Position Description Number PDD1207000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard. Responsibilities As a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, WG-2604-12, you will inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. In addition, may inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity. (2) Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required. (3) Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed. Utilizes established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Considers a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommends to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL. Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Performs in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. Performs final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or rejects the work and returns the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs (4) Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Serves as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT). (5) Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: E6 - CW3 Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. 5. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. 6. Wear of the military uniform is MANDATORY. Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment. c. Include any volunteer work experience in your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). d. Final selection will be based upon qualifications, suitability, and available manpower resources. e. This employer will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. f. Multiple vacancies may be filled from this announcement. g. If this announcement results in a temporary promotion for the selectee, it may become permanent at any time without further competition dependent on funding and manpower requirements. Education No substitution of education for specialized experience.
