  Job Description

  The U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) Gateway at Wahiawa, Hawaii utilizes the STEP System and DoD Teleport capability enhancements to provide additional SATCOM systems coverage and robust GIG/DIS services. Accesses to DISN services are via multi-media Radio Frequency (RF) connections. This multi-media RF includes Super High Frequency (SHF) X-Band, UHF, EHF, and Ka, as well as commercial SHF Wideband systems in the C and Ku Bands Systems. The Gateway consists of the Service Delivery Node (SDN) providing connections to the Defense Switched Network (DSN), DISN Video Services (DVS), Defense Red Switched Network (DRSN), and the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS). Unclassified but Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) services are provided via the ITSDN.

  In addition to providing tactical and strategic forces with a point of entrance into the DoDIN and legacy tactical C4I services with reliable high-throughput telecommunications, the site supports all frequency spectrums to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Western Hemisphere, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Pacific Command, Commander U.S, Pacific Fleet, Commander Seventh Fleet, Commander Marine Forces Pacific, Commander Pacific Air Forces, Special Operations Command, National Security Agency, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and Australian Defense Forces. DoD Gateway Wahiawa provides direct support Joint Communication Control Centers (JCCC) of deployed Joint Task forces (JTF) or Combined/Coalition task forces (CTF) providing satellite integration capabilities to connect tactical terminals intra/inter theater to other deployed terminals, for a seamless interoperability with the DoDIN.

  Additionally, the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) program provides the war-fighter with 3G cellular capabilities in the field. There are four MUOS sites {NCTAMS PAC Wahiawa, Hawaii; Geraldton, Australia; Niscemi, Italy; & Northwest, Virginia} which consists of Ground Transport, Ground Infrastructure, Network Management, and Satellite Control Systems.

  The selected candidate will work directly on a U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) contract for the Project Manager of BAE Systems Inc. As an Electronic Technician, the candidate will support the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) at Wahiawa, Hawaii and Geraldton, Australia and will be responsible for:

As an Electronic Technician, the candidate will support the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) at Wahiawa, Hawaii and Geraldton, Australia and will be responsible for:

  Duties

  The selected candidate will perform duties including but not limited to the operations and maintenance of the satellite communications terminals and associated equipment located at the Wahiawa gateway facility. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  Report to the Operations Manager & Maintenance Manager

  The operation and maintenance of satellite communications earth terminals and all associated equipment in the - facility on a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year on call basis.

  Operation of electronic test equipment

  Operation of cryptographic equipment

  Perform and/or assist in circuit troubleshooting, testing and fault isolation as required.

  Monitoring and reporting of any outages as they occur

  Monitor overall system status, respond to alerts and events, maintains system status database

  Coordinate H/W & S/W upgrades, Configure data collection performance parameters

  Perform organizational & direct support level maintenance on modems, multiplexers, up converters, down converters, power amplifiers, servo systems, frequency standards, satellite tracking systems, antenna mounted electronics (AME) and ancillary equipment

  Perform appropriate testing, patching, configuration and reconfiguration of multiplexers, modems, up-converters and down-converters as required

  Perform maintenance related tasks as required by the navy s Maintenance and Material Management (3M) program and BAE s Integrated Maintenance Program (IMP)

  Utilize multiple platforms to create tickets or incidents to document efforts, request and track parts, and/or request technical assistance

  Ensure safety of personnel and equipment

  The selected candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:

  Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  Pre-employment drug screening.

  Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  Must be minimally IAT Level II certified with appropriate baseline security and operating system/computer environment (OS/CE) certification in accordance with DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV-M 5239.2).

  Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs horizontally and 35 lbs vertically a distance of 50 feet without resting.

  Able to climb 30ft on fixed ladders

  Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  Able to respond to emergency calls 24/7/365.

  Experience in the use of government provided Fed Log program to research logistical data in order to verify part numbers and National Stock Numbers are valid.

  Obtain EKMS 301 certification within 30 days of hire.

  Obtain 3M 301 certification within 90 days of hire.

  At a minimum, have an Associate s degree in a relevant technical field with 7 or more years of specialized experience.

  Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  Must be a U.S. Citizen.
