Electrical Staff EngineerWestwood Professional Services, Inc.Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Staff Engineerto support our Electrical Engineering Team. The position is for an electricalengineer to support interconnection and design of EV charging facilities andBattery Energy Storage System (BESS) Facilities, which includes: BESSsites layout, EV charger site layout, selecting and sizing appropriatedistribution/collection equipment and conductors, and determininginterconnection requirements. As an Electrical Staff Engineer the individualwill coordinate with the Project Lead, and Senior Engineers, to maintainfirm standards and consistency as well as oversee interns, electricaldesigners, and drafters on the project.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support electrical engineering portions of EV Charging Facilities and EnergyStorage ProjectsReview utility service/interconnection requirements for various utilitiesand assemble technical portions of service/interconnect applications forclients.Coordinate with other project disciplines including civil engineers,geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyorsPerform electrical engineering design and creation of construction documentsfor projectsResponsible for performing electrical calculations and studies such as shortcircuit, load flow calculations and voltage drop.Maintain awareness of currently available equipment and industry bestpracticesCollaborate with and support electrical engineering teams in other officesas projects and workload sharing between offices dictates.Required Skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Renewable EngineeringProgramKnowledge of NEC requirementsKnowledge and proficiency in the use of an electrical power system modelingprogram(s)Required Experience
Approximately 2 - 6 years of experience in the design of electricaldistribution, generation, and or general electrical constructionWorking knowledge and ability to read and create service/interconnectionapplication packages, construction drawings and specification packagesProficiency with Microsoft Office productsProfessional appearance with excellent written and verbal communicationsskills, including ability to write detailed technical reports with minimaloversiteMust have a strong work ethic along with a positive attitudeMust be a supportive team member, able to work in a collaborativeenvironmentMust be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects undertight deadlines with minimal supervisionAbility to use AutoCAD in at least a limited capacityPreferred Experience
Experience and knowledge of overall design and construction of renewablepower projectsExperience with EV ChargersExperience in lighting design and photometrics analysis using AGI32 orVisual LightingProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3DElectrical PE License or ability to be licensed in the futureExperience with energy storage systems (battery, flywheel, or capacitor)Experience with ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, and/or DigSilent PowerFactoryto model electrical power systems and perform load flow, short circuit,voltage drop, grounding, thermal, and protective device coordinationstudies anExperience with Homer Grid/Pro modeling softwareExperience with microgrid design, back-up reciprocating generator systemdesign, or data center designExperience with PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP, or similar software andperforming transient/dynamic modeling and studies or power systemsCompensation Range Minimum
