The Opportunity
We are recruiting an Electrical Engineer II to join our Abbott Heart Failure team in Atlanta, GA, where we are focused on helping people with heart failure manage their health and ultimately change and save lives. The engineer will be primarily working on the CardioMEMS HF system, which remotely monitors changes in pulmanry artery (PA) pressure, an early indicator of the onset of worsening heart failure, to aid physicians in preventing worsening heart failure, lower heart failure mortality rates, and improve quality of life for our heart failure patients.
The engineer will be focused on sustaining support of CardioMEMS medical devices, including failure and complaint analysis, part obsolescence and replacement, and multiple parallel projects to update product designs and procedures. The engineer will also work on new product development projects with other electrical engineers and team leads.
Primary Responsibilities:
Investigate hardware complaints and potential anomalies to reproduce and determine root cause of issues reported about our medical device products. Documents methods and findings.
Execute tasks necessary for medical device design changes. Update design documentation, plan and document test procedure, execute design verification and impact assessment testing, document test results.
Support and review quality control activities and documents, as related to supplier quality and manufacturing quality and processes.
Manage R&D lab and lab equipment, including calibration, preventative maintenance, and associated documentation.
Work on design, characterization, verification, and documentation activities as part of electrical engineering team on project developing new products
Applies engineering and scientific principles, ingenuity, and creative analytical techniques to accomplish tasks and investigate issues.
Exercises appropriate level of technical judgment in planning, organizing, and performing and coordinating engineering assignments.
Follows internal processes of highly regulated industry.
Required Qualifications:
Bachler’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
2 years of experience in a similar position
Experience with electrical hardware that involves mixed signal, digital, analog, and RF circuitry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the class III medical device industry with design control or design verification experience
Experience with electrical component-level troubleshooting
Experience in performing layout construction and evaluation of a variety of Printed Circuit Boards, fixtures, and tools
Experience with Altium or similar
Experience with Windchill Project Lifecycle Management system, or similar, for Parts, Documents, Change Activities, Change Orders, BoMs, DMRs
Experience with SAP Material Master, Material BoM, Routing
Experience with standards-based testing, like IEC 60601-1 and related standards

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
