Job summary:
Our Large Power System Division is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer that will be located at our Griffin, GA facility. In this role, you will participate in the design and development effort for custom generator set controls and electrical architecture; specifically for our Medium Vee, 3500, C175, 3600, and C280 products. You will have responsibility for the design, build, and test support of custom content on orders for Griffin, GA, Lafayette, IN, and Tianjin, China facilities. You will also be responsible for the application of diesel & Gas generating sets in the Electric Power, Oil & Gas and Marine markets.
What you will do:
Develop custom solutions for gensets including generators, genset controls, control panels, electrical harnessing, telematics, and upgrade kits
Creation and support of detailed design, distribution of requirements and deadlines to offsite engineering detailers.
Support manufacturing with build and test processes
Support market facing groups with dealer technical inquiries and project quoting
Review project results with the management team through design reviews.
Collaborate with suppliers, field support of dealers, and resolution of warranty issues.
Skills you must have:
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Education: Bachelors Degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum
Top candidates will also have:
Knowledge of control and power system design
Experience with high speed and medium speed reciprocating engine gensets
Previous experience using Teamcenter ProE, Pro-Cable, and CREO (ProE Schematics) software.
Experience with 3-phase power design or generator set design
Familiarity of electrical standards and certifications including SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), UL (Underwriters Laboratories), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive), and CSA Class 1 Div 2 (Canadian Standards Association) requirements.
Demonstrated initiative and sense of urgency relative to customer requirements and creative problem solving across organizational boundaries
