Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a EHS Technician -2nd Shift. This position is based at our Kearney, NE location. This position provides EHS leadership to the site, with an emphasis on environmental, sustainability, and wastewater treatment aspects. Individual is accountable for: directing Environmental, sustainability, and wastewater treatment activities at the location; establishing Environmental and sustainability objectives and targets; internal reporting of Environmental and sustainability performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements; managing hazardous waste; and, supporting other EHS goals an initiatives related to plant safety. The hourly rate for this position is $27.50 per hour + $.70/hr shift differential. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do:
• Manages and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives, with an emphasis on environmental and sustainability. Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group Environmental and sustainability strategic initiatives.
• Facilitates risk assessment at the location to identify critical Environmental hazards and aspects. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key Environmental risks.
• Supports creation of Environmental and sustainability goals (including leading and lagging indicators) for the site manager and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results. Tracks goals throughout the year.
• Drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
• Creates and facilitates Environmental engagement through key environmental teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
• Works with EHS team to support safety initiatives and MESH elements including, but not limited to, Industrial Hygiene, Powered Industrial Trucks, Confined Space Entry, and Hot Work.
• Provide oversite and direction for the site waste water treatment process and ensure NPDES permit requirements are being achieved.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship
• 1-year work experience in an Environmental, Health, or Safety Role, in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
• 2-years manufacturing experience
• 4-year degree from an accredited institution
Skills:
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects
