About EHS Manager

  Trane Technologies Life Science Solutions (LSS) business is hiring an EHS Manager. Our LSS business services and manufactures ultra-low temperature processing and storage products for critical biopharmaceutical and life science industries.

  As the EHS Manager, you will be a safety-focused business partner in providing strategic consultation and leadership in the management of comprehensive safety management systems. This position will manage effective training initiatives, provide targeted risk analysis, and audit programs to measure efficacy.

  This position provides proactive leadership to all FARRAR and Diversified Laboratory Repair (DLR) employees with a heavy focus on the services organization. This role will manage EHS activities, programs and incident prevention activities, and ensures compliance with Trane Technologies, local, state, provincial and national requirements. The position establishes and promotes a strong safety culture and a healthy work environment.

  This position reports to the Farrar Business Leader and dotted line to the DLR Business Leader and EHS Core Team for Commercial HVAC Americas.

  The role can be based at either our Gaithersburg, MD, Dallas, TX, Indianapolis, IN or Marietta, OH sites.

  Responsibilities:

  · Proactively manage and coordinate safety process efforts for the Farrar and DLR businesses, including, but not limited to a Manufacturing location in Marrietta, OH and Service locations in Gaithersburg, MD, Benicia, CA and Dallas, TX.

  · Develop, implement, and measure the success of safety programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures in alignment with Corporate and Business Unit expectations.

  · Ensures accountability and interactions between stake holders and leadership.

  · Uses established EHS data processes to manage and report incidents, injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.

  · Analyze data to lead and coordinate the safety effort for continual improvement.

  · Visit job sites and dispersed workforce on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation of EHS processes and programs. Identify existing or potential risks and hazards. Ensure the recommended corrective or preventative measures are completed in a timely manner.

  · Complete Job Hazard Analyses and Accident Prevention Plans for work on customer sites.

  · Actively manage workers’ compensation program administration including working with all parties to aggressively manage and support transitional duty and return to work programs.

  · Drive, track and respond to incident and near miss reporting. Perform root cause analysis of incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their reoccurrence, with inclusion of operations subject matter experts, business leadership, business and enterprise EHS.

  · Facilitate EHS training and orientation as needed. Identify EHS related training requirements for associates and support processes to ensure training effectiveness and compliance.

  · Ensure all EHS related records are accurately maintained/organized and in compliance with Trane Technologies, local, state, provincial and national requirements or any other regulatory agency rules and regulations.

  · Ensure contractors and subcontractors have implemented an effective safety process by conducting pre-qualifications and by visiting/auditing job sites on a regular basis.

  · Prepare technical EHS regulatory reporting.

  · Organize and lead teams/committees to identify and implement safety improvements, waste reductions and resource conservation.

  · Contribute to and manage facility emergency response teams to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness and crisis management. Ensure drills and equipment are in a ready state and effective communication of responsibilities to personnel.

  · Up to 75% travel required. Travel required to Trane Technologies facilities and customer work sites.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  · Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental or Safety Sciences/Engineering, or related field.

  · 3 years of practical environmental health and safety management experience

  · One or more safety-related professional certifications is desired (i.e. CSP, CIH, CHSM).

  · Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, MSHA, DOT, etc.

  · Experience in the interpretation of federal, state, local, environmental and safety standards.

  · Excellent time management skills and computer experience in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and EHS data management system (i.e. Gensuite).

  · Strong ability to manage, motivate, engage and influence others.

  · Demonstrated ability to take innovative approaches to improve processes and solve problems.

  · Comfortable working with field technicians as well as communicating with leaders at all levels in the organization.

  · Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites/remotely as well as a dispersed workforce.

  Base Pay Range: $80,000 - $135,000

  Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
