DescriptionHighly skilled individual who performs duties related to the safe operation ofdiesel and electric drills at a highly skilled level.
Responsible for:Drilling quality primary and secondary blast holes, drilling to properdepth, and proper collaring of drill holesIdentifying and reporting any mechanical issues on the drill andrecognizing when bits are wearing and require replacementRecognizing hazards associated with drilling next to banks and highwallsDrilling angle holes and drilling in native groundSafely moves and positions power cables when operating drill around shovelsMay be required to:Bend drill steels, change bits and stabilizers and assist maintenancepersonnel with pipe changesOperate manual or automated drillsManually measure drill holes after drilling for quality controlOperate other pieces of mobile equipment as necessary for business needs
Responsible for the knowledge and safe performance of the followingprocedures: drilling in fill, using drill fire suppression system,loading drill on low-boy, breaking drill pipe, lowering and raising themast, mounting and dismounting of drill, and drilling near overhead powerlines
Responsible for knowing and performing proper tramming techniques, suchas, properly and safely move from one drill hole to the next, properlyand safely move from one bench to the next, properly and safely navigate onuneven grades, and properly securing the drill stringFrequently communicates and interacts with blasting crew to properly cleardrill for blastingMinimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of mobile equipment operating experienceKnowledge of the proper pattern approach and proper sequence of drillpatternsKnowledge of ground composition and geologyKnowledge of blasting operations proceduresAbility to safely and properly lift heavy and unstable objects, such asdrill bits and stabilizersPreferred Qualifications:
