Description Our prestigious health care facility is looking for an experienced DMH (Department of Mental Health) Medical Billing Collections Specialist to join our team. We provide state-of-the-art care and treatment options for our patients and their families. Job Description: The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player with excellent organization, investigation, and communication skills. The DMH Medical Billing Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of mental health medical billing and collections. You will be required to interact positively and professionally with patients, insurers, and other staff members while maintaining patient confidentiality. Responsibilities: Performing daily billing activities including filing claims, posting payments, and managing denials. Performing follow-up activities to secure payments for services rendered. Keeping a record of patient accounts, insurances, claims, balances. Liaising with insurance providers. Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Verifying accuracy of billing data and rectify any billing errors. Reviewing accounts for collections and contacting patients regarding unpaid balances. Preparing and submitting appeals when necessary. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in a DMH medical billing and collection position. Certified detail oriented Biller (CPB) certification preferred. Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems. Knowledge of medical insurance policies, COB, medical terminology, as well as state and federal regulations regarding medical billing and collections. Proficiency in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Exceptional organization and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
