JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position performs a variety of duties connectedwith the operation of the Sheriff\'s Office Communications Center andthe County Jail. -Receive and transmit orders and information to lawenforcement, security, emergency, ambulance, health care, firefighting,highway maintenance and/or other organizations, to include 911 androutine calls. -Establish and maintain radio communications betweendepartment staff and emergency field units in a professional manner.-Maintain records and prepare reports. -Process complaints, reports ofaccidents or violations and refer to proper authorities. -Assist thepublic that request information or assistance of the Iowa CountySheriff\'s Office. -Maintain public order, and act as a liaison betweenpublic officials and the public. -Operates radio multi-channel radiosystem with all agencies in accordance with the FCC (FederalCommunications Commission) rules and regulations. -Maintainsconfidentiality and secrecy regarding certain information and documents.-Operate the Transaction Information Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.)system, used for driver\'s license checks, vehicle registration checks,queries for warrants, etc. Operate other data processing systems,including but not limited to, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), RecordsManagement System (RMS). -Efficiently operate a multi-line telephonesystem. -Report for duty within the guidelines established for dress,time, physical and mental condition. -Maintain the ability to adapt tochanging protocols that are approved by administration while maintainingconsistent and competent with established rules, policies andprocedures. -Maintain the ability to know how to contact, find, notifyand dispatch available resources to appropriate locations/incidents.-Must be able to maintain ability to access NCIC/CIB systems toenter/clear missing persons, warrants, stolen articles, guns and otherpertinent information. -Maintain records and documents that are requiredof the position by the Sheriff\'s Office or by statute. -Perform suchother duties as may be assigned. -Must have dependable and reliableattendance and be available to work any shift, weekends, or holidays asrequired. May be required to be called back, held over or work off hoursor required to work during emergency situations or inclement weather.***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualificationsinclude but not limited to: 18 years of age or older, high schooldiploma or G.E.D., one (1) year of increasingly complex officeexperience required with record keeping experience, one (1) year ofexperience in a customer service setting, type 35 wpm, valid driver\'slicense, TIME certification as it relates to the dispatch function,ability to read, write and speak clearly. Preferred Qualificationsinclude: post high school credits in law enforcement, ortelecommunications, prior law enforcement experience, prior experiencein fire or emergency medical services, prior experience utilizingemergency services equipment, fluency in foreign languages. Selectionprocess will also include oral interviews, psychological examination,and extensive background check.
